Traditional, heritage breeds maintain important characteristics for survival and self-sufficiency. Which includes better fertility, forging abilities, health, longevity, and higher resistance to diseases and parasites.
Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our small farm has raised distinguish hardy and beautiful cows. Continuously improving breeding genetics of the fold and producing high quality calves.
Why and how we choose Scottish Highlands, simply: “My city wife needed something hardy enough that she cannot kill by lack of knowledge and has a gentle heart and disposition that would not be aggressive or intimidating to handle.” The remarkable beauty of the Highlands and their docile nature can’t go unnoticed. TM Farmsteading started our adventure with three unregistered Highlands. Over the years we expanded and migrated to fully registered stock for our breeding program.
Our journey first began with the gentle Flemish Giants… we later added Suffolk sheep to our farm.
TM Farmsteading embraces a back-to-our-roots fully sustainable lifestyle. Environmentally focused, sustainable farming. We use solar power and water catchment to provide water sources to our poultry, sheep, herb garden, and fruits. We also embrace and support the old-time practices of bartering within the community.
